      of one movement.

      To celebrate International Women's Day, we're honoring women challenging the status quo and inspiring gender equality in the workforce. Through their businesses and initiatives, these entrepreneurial ladies #PressforProgress on their own terms — creating positive change with an impactful, optimistic message of inclusion.

      Amplifying women in industries spanning tech, education, news media, community culture and career flexibility, this portrait series captures fearless female leaders who are twisting and turning our current cultural landscape to create new solutions that work.

      We met up with these Superwomen in their offices to talk pressing for progress, galvanizing women to support women, and why now, more than ever, we must maintain a persistent resilience to complacency — women must continue to demand greater agency both professionally and socially.

      "Besides the obvious things like pay disparity and absence of women in senior leadership, too many businesses simply do not prioritize women's health, happiness, or comfort. Women face particular challenges in society, and even small changes — like access to menstrual products and generous parental leave policies — can have a big effect. In general, supporting women's personal and career development means trusting that women can do the work. Women can do the work and do it well."

      "When we first started out, about 87% of Andela developer applicants were male. We couldn’t have that. So we made a concerted effort to attract more female applicants. We hired female recruiters, developed marketing campaigns targeting women and conducted all-female recruitment cycles. After switching things up, we saw the number of female developer applicants increase by over 200%! Today we are about 26% women technologists and over 50% women in all other roles. Uplifting female voices at Andela is an ever-present goal and a value woven into the fabric of our company."
